The Sunset in Kent

The sky in Kent is extraordinarily high and vast,
and when you look up, you are humbled.
The sunset in Kent is extraordinarily enchanting,
The land, still and quiet, everything in solemn silence.
Ah! That’s because the birds have all returned to the woods,
Safely home, no need for clamour.

I reluctantly bid farewell to the sunset before it gets dark completely.
Finding the way where I came from, I enter a small village pub.
Order a local ale, tasting the bitter sweetness of the hops,
alone and slowly.
I open Wilde’s “The Potrait of Dorian Gray”, waiting for my little girl to call.
